Overall, this is an enjoyable album.
The riffs remind me of some of the songs from the first GHOST album. The guitars have a pleasing warm distortion that add a bit of heaviness to the otherwise bright tempos. What I mean is that there is no doom, even though the songs come close at times, more of a stoner doom than of the darker and melancholy sort. There are nods to other genres, but generally, the music very tasty.
The female vocals are hard to describe. Perhaps it is best to say they are a perfect pairing of the riffs. I liked them instantly, even before I heard their full range.
It’s worth taking a chance on this one.
