There is a peppering of black metal, but this is a hybrid of a few styles. The vocals aren’t high-pitched screeching that is common in cheesy black metal, but they aren’t guttural either. The best way to describe them might be to say they are throaty. There are also some clean-singing bits.

The drums borrow from black metal at times, but they are dynamic. That goes for the riffs too. There are time changes as well as mood shifts. Some of the ideas are very interesting.

It feels familiar yet surprising. There are many ingredients in the compositions, so repeated listening is mandatory. There is a lot to unfold. Each song is unique, so listening to the entire album in one session is a pleasure.
